"Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has been named as a featured soloist for an upcoming program for the San Diego Symphony.
Mustaine is set to be part of a program that will feature music from Richard Wagner, Antonio Vivaldi and Antonin Dvorak and will take place in April of 2014.
Megadeth revealed these details: Dave Mustaine will be a featured soloist with the San Diego Symphony in April, 2014, in a program that will include Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" from "Die Walküre", Vivaldi's "Winter" from "The Four Seasons" and Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 (the "New World" Symphony).
Executive director Edward "Ward" Gill said it's all about reaching new audiences, while music director Jahja Ling said he had a good meeting with Mustaine, and he may conduct the concert himself (no conductor is listed at this point, and Mustaine's exact involvement is still being worked out)."
what do you think? Will it be great, or will it be a "symphony of destruction"?

Maybe Mustaine can solo during a bit of Wagner and then teach the crowd about how Obamacare is Nazism.
could you picture the audience he'd be ranting to? that would be classic-al. i would pay money to hear Mustaine attempt to solo over a Wagner piece. or any classical arrangement, for that matter.

This guy I know, he sings alt/indie rock kinda stuff. But then one day, he broke out into some opera and it was quite something, the dude clearly knew how to do it. Had the high tenor notes and everything. The oddest people you'd never expect can have the most wonderful operatic voices. I reserve judgment until I hear what Mustaine can muster.
you're right of course - best to hear the result first. i actually really enjoy dave mustaine as a guitarist and vocalist. in both respects, he's got his own unique approach. i think he's one of the best and most interesting rhythm guitarists in the genre. while his leads aren't technically mind-blowing, he has a signature aggressive "voice" that comes through everytime. his approach is un-mistakeable, IMO.
