For those jumping ship, what a bunch of **bleep**.

Bleeping? Honestly, a well placed **bleep** can do wonders from time to time, but I'll survive.

This is out of line.  Mark is not one of 'whiners.'  He has NOT disparaged this place.  In fact, he's always expressed his fondness for this community.

You, on the other hand, are bearing false witness against thy neighbor.  As a man who presents himself publicly as a Christian, you should be deeply ashamed.

for the record... i agree with this completely... i have no idea why Mark Wein has been constantly allowed to spam his forum at harmony central... to me, he's acted like a vulture... every time something goes wrong he's in there pushing his own forum... all done in a light hearted way, but his intentions have been clear from the start

and then he wanted money to fund the promotion of his album.... you've gotta be kidding me

the guy has shown absolutely no class imo

It's simple.  The only thing Mark has done is self promote just like Bryan Gunsher with BG Pups or Guitar Fetish or any number of people who've grown their business here at HC.  He has not been underhanded or sneaky about it.  He's been straight forward.  The fact that you have a problem with it is your hangup.

Some people have this idea in their heads that Wein's website is a threat to this community or that you have to choose a side.  That's just silly.  Mark is not telling people to visit his web community and never return.  The fact that some people have said they plan to go there and never return shows their frustration with HC.  But Mark has never promoted his website as a one way street journey.  Most mature adults recognize that there are multiple guitar community websites and you can be a dual citizen of HC and Mark Wein Guitar Lessons.  Personally, I visit multiple places and will continue to come to HC until it's gone.

HC is imploding right now because this new software rollout is much too similar to HC 2.0.  That's the perception.  That has nothing to do with Wein's place.  If people decide to stay away from HC, it's not because of TGP or Wein or any number of guitar community alternatives.

HC was diminished by the 2.0 rollout.  Now, this 3.0 rollout is having the same effect.  That's on the management of this site, not Mark.

I hope this place survives.  I've got fond memories here.  I'll continue to visit here hoping things turn around.  But, let's not get confused about the issue.  What happened here was nothing to do with any other website out there.  This debacle is on MF/GC management.

pickup makers aren't a guitar forum... that's the difference... to come to guitar forum and constantly spam your guitar forum is tacky... when the old site kept breaking down mark would start MULTIPLE threads spamming his forum

imagine if i joined his site and kept banging on about a guitar forum i had... and if his site had problems, and wasn't functioning properly... if i was to start thread after thread saying "come hang at my site guys"

ask yourself honestly how that would be perceived

he's spammed the harmony central electric guitar forums to get his numbers up... plain and simple... the poor performance of this site has been has nothing to do with how he's gone about things

You are certainly entitled to your point of view.  But, I think you are confusing the issue with your complaints about Mark.  That's an auxiliary issue.  It's a bit like blaming an ambulance driver for the fact that somebody has to take a trip to the hospital for a gunshot wound.

What's happening HERE is the fault of GC / MF Management.  The fact that some people feel the need to declare their allegance for another website is a byproduct ot their dissatisfaction with the HC Format Change. Other guitar websites are NOT the cause of the trouble here at HC.

Yes, I do think it's cool that we can Upload Photos Directly From Our Computers.  However, that doesn't smooth over the fact that this Format Change has chased the MAJORITY of this community away.

I hope this community is not completely destroyed in the long run.  But, it's certainly not looking good right now in the short term.

Pointing fingers at other people is NOT going to fix what went wrong here.  This decision was made by GC / MF Management without consideration for this forum community.

Yes, this forum is a Free Service.  But, it's also driven by Advertising Revenue.  And, the people who make up the community are Free to take their contribution elsewhere on the web because they are not enjoying the User eXperience.

This bums me out.  I wish I could convince people to stay.  However, blaming others for the fact that most people hate the UX is misplaced.

GC / MF had every right to make this decision without consulting the community.  But, they must also be prepared to take the blame now that their decision did not work out.  Blaming others, users or the community for this is wrong.  Blame GC.  Blame MF.  They ruined the forum with a bad UX.  And, it's very higly unlikely to return to even post 2.0 numbers much less 1.0 levels.  Very sad.

i simply don't agree with the way he's spammed this guitar forum to get his numbers up at his guitar forum... regardless of what's been happening here

Mark was a well known HC poster before he even started his forum. And he only started it when HC started having real issues. nobody complained about his posts when he was giving away gear either.

seems forum turmoil brings out the worst in posters here, and the need for scapegoating stalwarts of the HC community.

Don't know about the rest of the site but that pic looks pretty good.

I'd post a one up but, alas, no iPhone pic support.
