Changing the magnets and wires will RWRP the pickup. I did that on my Gibson.

I love the sound of P90's. I HATE the hum that comes with it. I'll happily play humbuckers instead of P90's if I can avoid the hum.

My workspace is about as organized as I am.
Thanks very much, but I think that this is gonna be the year that I score an R9 to complete my burst collection. I have an R8 and R0--but I need the 9. This might be the one:

That's a great job; looks stock. I played one at my local Sam Ash and regretted that Gibson did not make that model with humbuckers ...

Do you know why they discontinued it so soon? Bad seller?

Re: I modified my Gibson Midtown Standard

PK, personally I think A2 bridge and A5 neck is THE best combo, while tradition has always used A2 at the neck. I'd love to hear that, and like Doc, you've given me a little bug now

Nice mods

Also, in several installs routing is required due to the size of the Kinmans. I'm considering a set for my 60s Tribute Les Paul, but not sure I wanna mess with routing.

Re: I modified my Gibson Midtown Standard

^^^ That was the case with the stacked Duncan P90s in my 50's Tribute LP as well as the Midtown. I briefly had a set of Joe Barden soapbars installed. Those were nice and no modifications were needed. But I decided to go with the minis. Another pickup that worked in the LP was the Bill Lawrence L-550. Those are difficult to find though. I currently have them installed in the LP.

If you are interested in a slightly used set of Barden soapbars, PM me. I plan to sell them.

Awesome !
