The only positive point of this forum, and I have to admit it's a big one, is that it at least loads. The old forum was better in every way, of course. But then it broke, and we couldn't even complain about it. At least now we can sign on.
Let's hope they can fix the various issues here. I'm sure the powers that be aren't so stupid to think the forum will survive when it lacks the basic features of every other forum on the internet.

those features are there for a regular browser but do not work from the mobile site and don't work on iPad or iPhone because they require Flash. Mobile support is very poor. If they were to make the site more functional for iPad and iPhone I would be fine with the changes.
Until they fix it there is a way to post pictures mobile using the full (not mobile) site. Go to the HTML tab and type in
<img src="
Then type in the link to the image. Then type in the following:
">
There should be no spaces between the quotes and the image link.
It is a bit of a pain in the butt, but... It does the job until they go HTML5 (which Chrome for Android and iOS both support) or ditch the whole overdone image insertion method and simplify it to an entry field for the image URL.

ya that will work but really makes me dislike the new site even more.

To have to KNOW HTML to use a forum site? That is pretty stupid within itself.
No matter how many people say this is great I can see this becoming a ghost town before long.

Honestly, just install StyleBot or Stylish.

I was being snarky. I'm patient enough to wait for the improvements.
I remember being given advice similar to yours when HC 2.0 rolled out. As a former web developer, my belief then was the same as it is now: While the problem can be 'solved' on the user end, it must ultimately be solved at the application end.

i think another thing to go with that is that this forum has a fair amount of older people 40+, and we can take a bit longer to figure stuff out than teenagers, who just seem to adapt quickly.

You probably know this, but the "Message Listing" text/link will take you back to the Electric Guitars forum front page.
No, I didn't know that. Thank you for that.

this is the short term answer for sure. please follow the three step process in this thread and things will look almost normal to you.

the other issues are the emoticons (i want the old ones back) and the way the quote function just continues stacking quotes. not everyone knows how to delete that stuff...
i do like the preview tab

Maybe it has been posted, but how do you quote another post?

Thanks for posting all the forum tips
Now how do you get a decent selection of emoticons?
Seems like all I can find are Pikachu's and some little girlie face
This format doesn't recognize the typed in versions like the old format did such as :idk: or
Seems like happy faces
and winks
are the only 2 that still seem to work the same way. (?)

You're welcome, Gas man. Yeah, the selection of smilies is pretty dismal.

This is tough since I can't quote or post a pic, but I'm not getting that text editor box with pic and quote icons.
What am I doing wrong?
You're either posting from a cell phone or an IPad. The icons don't show up here on those devices. I post from a regular PC, so they do show up for me.
Maybe it'll be more user-friendly for cell phone and IPad users later on.
