Floyd Rose bridge blocks

Ok guys. So I have this bad ass idea. I want to replace the stock block from my Schaller Floyd Rose with either a tungsten, brass, or titanium one. I would like to get your input on the differences between the three. What are the tonal and performance characteristic differences between the three? Also what is the density and weight differences? Also, a heavier block should make a Floyd Rose flutter better, right? My Schaller already flutters very well, but if I could make it flutter even better that would be sick. Share your experiences and knowledge!

While I'm normally one that things that every little bit of a guitar contributes to the tone somewhat... Lock blocks... No. They're not a part that vibrates in any way. If you want something more durable that you'd have to replace less often go with the titanium blocks.

If you have a Schaller-made licensed Floyd (the thicker one with the knife-edge inserts) your money would be better spent replacing the entire bridge. I'm a fan of the Floyd Rose Special packages. They'd drop right onto the posts for a Schaller Floyd. You would just have to do a really good setup.

I ordered one from here and it's a pretty sweet bridge.

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

Why would I replace my German made Schaller that costed $170 with a cheaper bridge?

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

Are you talking about the locking blocks? They wouldn't help tone at all and also there's nothing wrong with a Schaller floyd. Schaller and Gotoh are considered by many to be the best licensed floyds. Not considering higher end Ibanez ones.

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

No no. I am talking about the block under the bridge that the springs from the trem claw connect to.

Oh, I thought you were talking about this.

But you're saying that you have this, right?

Ohhhhhhhhh!!!

OK... I don't think anybody else knew what you meant, either.

So, you're talking about these, then?

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

Yes yes I have the Schaller Floyd Rose. And yes I am talking about those things in the link you posted. The block on the bottom of the bridge that the springs connect to.

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

I would leave it alone. The block on the Schaller is good.

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

The block on the Schaller is great. But I see no problem with putting a heavier, larger and better one on.

Re: Floyd Rose bridge blocks

Bigger blocks will give you more sustain by adding more mass. Not sure about tone but that subjective each person's ear. Titanium is very expensive, if you going to get change them out I would start with a brass block.
