This one?

Looks like they distribute, not “own”.  Impressive, though.

still can't find it on that stupid website of theirs....anyway....don't know where you are looking.

And I know for sure they don't own those companies.  Jupiter for one is owned by a Taiwanese consortium.  Sabian is indepedent as is Vic Firth. Elixer is owned by Gore industries.

Go to Musical Instruments and then click down on (for example) Coast Music.

450 employees is a fair bit for a distro operation.

"Jam Industries is a unique distribution network made up of 13 divisions that serve markets ranging from musical instruments to consumer electronics."

http://www.linkedin.com/company/jam-industries-ltdhttp://

"Founded in 1972, JAM Industries Ltd. began operating in Montreal under the trade name of Erikson Music, and through the 1970’s, witnessed the rapid growth of this Quebec-based company.

In the 1980’s JAM Industries widened its scope. In addition to Erikson Music, JAM acquired the Korg Canada line, and created the Erikson Pro Audio division, which allowed greater focus on important market areas. In April 1986, JAM Industries purchased full assets of Coast Wholesale Music Ltd. and proceeded to transform this Western Canadian company from a regional distributor into a full-fledged national marketing and sales force, thus ensuring that JAM had full National distribution of all of its products.

In the 1990’s, building on established strengths, the company expanded. It split the Erikson Pro Audio division into two unique divisions, and dove into the lighting market, distributing Martin Professional Lighting products in Canada. Additionally, JAM Industries made its foray into the consumer electronics field with the creation of the Erikson Consumer division.

The early 2000s brought a new dimension to the Canadian company, with the addition and acquisition of various sister companies in the Untied States: American Music & Sound, US Music Corp, American Audio & Video and Ashly Audio.

Following a consistent upward curve, JAM's growth and diversification continues to strengthen its position in the marketplace, providing a resourceful, reliable, and innovative distribution network."

Absolutely none of those companies is significant.  Not a single one has ever produced a product that has been used on any recording in modern music history and with the possible exception of "Gator", which I understand manufactures sandwiches, I don't think any of them produce anything that's available in the North American market.  Or Europe/Asia for that matter.

Bain Capital owns Guitar Center. Guitar Center owns Harmony Central among other online retailers (MF, 123, etc.).

There was a left-handed black artist who used "Marshall" amps in the 60's.  He couldn't have been very good as the few pictures I've seen of him showed him playing a right-handed guitar upside down...if you can't even make enough money to buy a proper guitar, I'm thinking you should stop using off-brand amps so you sound better.

I also saw a picture of four funny-looking British guys playing amps labled "Vox".  Apparently they were from Liverpool or some other off-the-beaten path place.  No huge, London-based acts would be using such trash...

Yes, many significant products, but the company in your OP owns none of them, they just distribute.

If you think that’s still thread-worthy, fine, but let’s call it what it is.

People don't seem to get your sarcasm.   I do.  But you didn't understand me.   I wasn't saying those comapnies weren't linked with that distributor...only I didn't know where the hell he was clicking to see that list he wrote.  Still don't.  clicked on musical instruments and see about 5 different distributors of other companies.  whoopty doo!

Why do you say JAM doesn't own all these companies?  The companies are owned by the 13 divisions of JAM.  It's like Buick is a division of GM.  GM owns Buick.

No...it's nothing like GM...lol

I can't believe I still care to post in this thread but...dude seriously....how are you failing to understand this?  They are a canadian based distributor that owns other distribution companies.  On the website linked on the first page...their very own words:

JAM Group is the “go to company” for music, sound and audio distribution in North America

And I've already proved you wrong about several of the companies you mentioned.

But once again....Jupiter is OWNED by KHS....a huge musical conglomerate out of Taiwan..

http://world.khsmusic.com/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=61389

see?

Sabian is a private company based out of New Brunswick owned by Robert Zildjian and his family.

Vic Firth is a private comany.

Marshall is privately owned.

Sonor is privately owned and you can see on their own website under their list of distributers world wide the company you linked too.

Elixer is owned by gore industries...the same people who make the fabric for ski jackets....click on consumer products to find elixers..

http://www.gore.com/en_gb/industries/

Seymour Duncan is owned by Seymour Duncan...lol
