Re: Best Single Pickup Electric Guitar?

It's the Gibson Les Paul Junior, either single or double-cut.

Re: Best Single Pickup Electric Guitar?

Hard to choose. I love the P-90 LP Jr. and single coil Melody Maker. I also love the Esquire and La Cabronita. And jazz boxes with single pickup in the neck position are cool. There is just something great about the stripped down simplicity of these guitars.

Don't like the shreddy things though. A Van Halen type Frankenstein is cool. But shreddys? Just not my cuppa.

Neither of them are Gibbys. The first one is an LTD Viper 400 and the second one is an older Korean Epiphone.

Re: Best Single Pickup Electric Guitar?

Looks like a tie between the Esquire and the Jr ...

Hell, let's make a concession to the younger folk and throw in an EVH-style single-'HB shred machine ...

Personally, I like THESE for slide:

Re: Best Single Pickup Electric Guitar?

Can't go wrong with the classic Gibson Junior with the P90 or one of those classic Esquires, BUT I tossed a Duncan PhatCatIMAG0033.jpg P90 in my '83 Ibanez RS315 and It's like a junior with a more fenderesque vibe......... Picture is a little fuzzy, but damn this is a great playing and sounding guitar.

Re: Best Single Pickup Electric Guitar?

esquire >lp Jr

why?

because the esquire has a tele switch which makes for 3 different positions. LP switch/toggle you cant do that.
