BB King- Sweet Little Angel

[ Edited ]

I love the Live at the Regal version of this song, but B really stretches out here.

Thanks for sharing - great version of an absolute classic.  Love the extended intro.  I pretty much love BB King all around.

Re: BB King- Sweet Little Angel

It's actually "Sweet Sixteen" and the first blues song that I learned lick for lick a decade ago when I began playing. This might sound silly, but I think that I might be still learning it as even after what seems like a few hundred times of listening/playing it. I still find small nuances in the way BB plays, that I could never quite achieve. The "Live at the International Club in Chicago" is the version that I learned, might be a little more accessible, and is still my favorite.

There is much to be learned within for the aspiring blues man. Highly suggested.

Re: BB King- Sweet Little Angel

My apologies, it is Sweet Sixteen. I agree, BB's stuff sounds simple and cliched, but when I attempt it , it's far more sophisticated than one imagines. I love the occasional Charlie Christian/Django references as well. I read a Larry Carlton interview where he said he saw that BB left spaces in places opposite of where Larry would naturally leave them. He had to alter his phrasing to approximate BB's.
