So I built a sustainer strat...

[ Edited ]

'86 squier strat with Fernandes kit added, sounds gigantic!!

Turns out, it's not a"Silver series" as I thought, it's an "E series" which is more valuable/collectable...this one sure ain't collectable now!

I tried it with strat knobs too, not sure which I prefer??

Re: So I built a sustainer strat...

I know very little about the Fernandes system, but I thought I once read there was an inducer in the bridge and a pickup in the neck, and you weren't supposed to put another pickup in the middle cuz it's mag-field might futz with the inducer. Did I get bad info? (probably!)

Nice setup. I'd love to hear some clips.

To me, this could be a whole new instrument...as different as playing pedal steel.

You can have a pickup in the middle, you just can't have the two pieces of the sustainer too close to each other or it won't work properly.

Re: So I built a sustainer strat...

cheers Guys! she sure sounds great, fantastic chunky neck on this strat and the body is defintely some kind of hardwood which is really reasonant, it looks paler that alder but not as grainy as ash?

sounds great anyway
