the XO stereo polyphase looks promising also. I'm concerned that it'll sound too sterile though.

THIS. just picked one up earlier this week and it is AWESOME. highly recommend it. wouldn't call it sterile at all. plus the envlope phasing/filtering is really neat. got it to sound exactly like my big green russian small stone at both switch positions, so i'm selling that thing likely. 24v is about the only annoying thing about it. how the hell am i supposed to power 3 24v ehx pedals on my board???

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

I don't always jerk off. But when I do--it's always in the basement, and it always involves swirly phaser tones. I prefer the 45 for subtle. I'll be building a mutron II clone and an OTA in the next couple of months so we'll see how that goes.

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

This thread turned into a fist fight for a little bit. I wish I could have seen it, like alien running around shouting the names of his favorite phasers in a pfight club setting swinging wildly at anyone who had the audacity to suggest a phase 90. thats how we should settle tone arguements from now on: fistfights. winner gets the make the valued contribution.

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

I always get an urge to check out that Keely Phaser myself. I'm liking the 2 speed ramp up/down. Can anyone answer this question, if you set the "speed" of that ramping, does it just switch fast to slow like A/B?

Maxon PH350 for fucking ever. i've had small stones, phase 90s, a whetstone, and various boss and DOD offerings. nothing comes close to the maxon.

this, ALL DAY. i too have had almost everything. only one i havent tried is a pearl, i think. i'm pretty sure i've played every phaser out there except the infinitephase (lol stupid), the biphase and the frequency central stuff. i've definitely played the majority of phasers mentioned in here (whetstone, sibling, russian small stone, etc), and the ph-350 murders every last one. buhlee dat.

Another PH-350 fan here. A few years ago I went on a search for a phaser and the Maxon won out. Sure I try out the new phasers when I get the chance, but always come back to the PH-350.

RTFM!

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

all i do is tabletop/experimental/noise stuff and the infiniphase has z-e-r-o appeal to me. there is such a thing as too much control. you really think i give a shit about 75% of the crap on there? that pedal is a total peenuz replacement.

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

is the Maxon the same phase type as a small stone? or does it have a different character? like how an MXR is compared to a SmallStone?

Re: PHASER THREAD: FULL OF BOLLOCKS

I have the Maxon and it can sound like the 90 or the Stone. 4, 6, or 10 stages, using photo couplers, It's also stereo and has a unique positive, negative feedback control. Plenty of crazy sounds possible. Although I find myself using a Vibe more these days.
