Speaking of the Pretenders, I've always liked the walking bass line in Kid. It's very simple, but quite effective.

Here's a few of mine:
Norman Watt-Roy's criminally underated playing on Hit Me etc
The Master of groove Bass playing Mr Bernard Edwards....
And if you want to be depressed- here's the Ox, John Entwhistle, letting rip- the greatest of them all IMO- scroll to about 4.30 to hear things you would not believe possible on a bass.....
Without doubt the Ox is my fave bassist of all time.

Very last one- The Ent just making it look stupidly easy....utterly amazing.
DON"T MISS OUT ON WATCHING THIS- Scroll to c. 2.20 and just watch utter genius.
I didn't know you could actually play a bass like this....greatest bassist ever? You bet.

Anything by John Entwhistle, and almost anything by Jack Cassidy.
As for singles, I always liked "Pump it Up" by Elvis Costello and and Attractions. May not be difficult, but I just can't get it out of my head sometimes.
