Between the fact it sounds like the big guy was having a manic episode, there's a killing involved, and the patronizing attitude people are gonna have toward the surfging vegabond, probably not, but that hasn't stop anyone before. What I like, is the guy has character, is totally honest, swears like a sailor, and is talking about "real life" shit on TV. It takes a lot of "reality" tv conventions and flips them around.
I'm not sure if smashin the dudes brains out was neccessary, he could have been trying to hug the woman in a daze, and probably could have been subdued safely with mace, and who knows if this surfer's story is even right, but it's a hell of a story, well told, and he doesn't sugar coat it. To me, normalizing something like this, or making it into a cheesy detective show is way more appalling.
