went out for a walk today.. we don't get snow much here
just got this Canon 550d/T2i from a friend, and liking it a lot. just need to practice now i guess..
not sure why, but snow looks a lot better in black and white :idk:
Cool. Snow looks a lot cleaner in b&w. Cuts out all the dirt. Also it's very easy for the camera's exposure controls to get confused by all that white so it under exposes and that makes the snow look grey and not appealing. If you set the exposure compensation control to about +1 it'll make the snow look nice and crisp and white.
Or you could just make it black and white, as you did

Speaking of snowy photos, here's the only thing I got from a walk in the park the other day. There was a cool red tennis net which contrasted nicely against the snow but I didn't have a wide enough lens to get it all in frame. I might go back tomorrow.

that girl is oblivious to the threat of being pelted by snowballs from the hilltops on either side.

I always thought this was a good photo for communicating "Cold, Grey, Oregon day"

Got a new/old camera (Nikon F3, it's fantastic!) so I put a roll of film through it to test it out. The film had been in my garage (super hot in the summer, freezing in the winter) for at least ten years so I wan't sure how it would turn out. Needed to tweak the colours a whole lot to get them looking ok

More bleak stuff from Russia.

This is actually the first time I've tried live photography with a decent camera. A couple of friends' bands reformed for a one-off charity gig. They were both pretty popular locally, and one of them got a bit of coverage in the NME - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubichek! - the gig sold out within a day and raised £1200 for charity. Not bad!
I was gonna take photos of both bands but I went a little crazy and filled up my memory card during the first band - music here: http://thecalicoprint.bandcamp.com/album/ever-sinc

so i was dicking about with the camera to get pics to sell some pedals and got a bit experimental with long exposures in the dark, and using a torch to light the pedals etc.. a bit toasted also.. so discovering the Snarling Dogs logo glows in the dark blew my **** mind

Awesome pics man, like the backdrop. it really adds to the light/dark transistions and makes the glow green pop.
Might as well add a few...
