I bloody love the Shins. Writing uplifting songs that don't sound contrived, self-conscious or thin on substance is probably the hardest thing to do, it's much easier make a depressed, angry or detached sounding song.

I don't know really. It just sounds REALLY good to me for some reason. Like a perfect mix.

First off, thanks Travvy for sharing this. I'm astounded that most of the lyrics in this song are actually intelligible. That's always been a gripe I've had with The Shins, though I do like them a lot. Same goes for Thom Yorke. Both are great singers/lyricists. It's nice to see Mercer step up and show it. Really dislike the vibrato effect on his vocals, though, and the high-sung notes seem a bit extravagant. The album will have to grow on me, but I anticipate liking it every bit as much as their previous works.
