I've been messing around trying to get a good Leslie sound for years, but all the Leslie Amps are unreliable, loads of moving parts, and all the sims seem to color your tone.
So, I got thinking, and as I decided the humble Roland Cube is a brilliant clean amp when set up right, I simply went into my cupboard, took out my old Neo Vent, ran a lead out of the dry send of my chorus, into the lex and into 2 Cubes in stereo either side of my 4 x 12 and with the panning of the Vent it sounded really very good. I still need to tweak it, but for £450 I have just created a very versatile and controlable stereo Leslie.
Have a think about this as a concept...it works. Please send all royalty chqs to me. Any made payable to P O'Keefe will be destroyed.

I still have not tried the Neo Ventilator. I hear it's quite good.
I think the Strymon Lex is also very good. The one thing I wish it had was just one more output. The way it is now, you can assign the outputs to be either a stereo pair (and the sound swirls and pans around in stereo when running into two amps, or two channels on the board), or you can assign the second output to the low frequency drum, while the first one covers the high frequency (above 800Hz) horn. Splitting off the lows and running them to a bass amp is really cool, but you lose the stereo swirl. If it could do both - run the lows to one amp, and the highs in stereo to two others, I suspect that the realism would be even more impressive.
The other thing that often gives away the fact that you're using a sim is the lack of any "wind noise" from the spinning horn / drum, and any of the mechanical noises that a real Leslie exhibits. That's pretty much true of all the sims I've used.

Does the Neo Ventilator have a brake?
It has the ability to use a remote "rotary stop" switch, which I assume functions like a traditional brake does.
