Despite some qualms—such as a dull sounding WRHB in the neck, an overly twangy Broadcaster single-coil in the bridge, a loose nut, and a slightly uncomfortable body shape—this guitar is growing on me. It's not as easy to play as my Strat or Ibanez Artist when seated, but it definitely has its own charm and character sonically. And once I'd put some .012's on it and dropped it down to C, it began to feel more like home. I also tweaked my amp's settings and found a happier medium between brightness and smoothness.
I might change the neck humbucker with a Creamery '71, Jaime's version of a WRHB, and I may even replace the bridge single-coil with his version of a P90 in a Telecaster form, or something else entirely. But for the moment I'm enjoying playing this guitar. It's growing on me gradually and sounds very acoustically strong and willful. The rounder neck radius trips me up from time to time, but it's great for chords and rhythm. Overall, although it took me a few days, I'm pleased.

One thing I really didn't like about my buddie's mim version: Tiny frets. I'm guessing yours also came with the same kind of vintage style frets, right? Probably the only thing I disliked about it, though I'd probably also upgrade the pu's...

Awesome! I bought a G&L ASAT a few months ago with the same pickup configuaration and I love it. I will eventually swap the neck pickup as I find it a little boomy, dull, and dark but it's a nice contrast to my other tele.
