and which IMO desparately tries to looks like a well-known "DMM"-clone
has itself already been cloned overnite by Underground Electronic Forces ( U.E.F. )...

The first Ton video! This is a great moment. Was it difficult to clone the Behringer? I hear that they use only completely original designs. As a company, they have no soul.

I find it a bit weird that you're cloning Behringer, who cloned EHX (Was the circuit the same?) and you work for EHX.
Or are you just a free-lance designer? :confused:

I see, I see Sorry if I seemed ignorant earlier. How did you get your hands on a VTM so quickly, or is it the same as the DMM (in which case, I guess you used that)? It sounds great by the way :thu: Do you plan to release these?

No necessarily digital. Caps, resistors, and all sorts of linear parts are SMD also. Take a look inside a Bad Monkey (or just about 90% of the mass-produced stompboxes out there) and you'll see all SMD, yet it usually still 100% analog.

The beauty of SMD is that you can populate a board on both sides, and actually interconnect both sides using what is callled a "via hole" which is an actual little hole on the pcb. Conductive material is applied to its inside so it can act as an actual wire that connects one side of the pcb to the opposite. that way, you have duoble the surface (or real estate) on which you can place components.

The SMD technology I've seen on effect pedals is probably about 5 to 7 years old. Most passives in them are 0805 (8mm X 5mm), and some 0603.
In newer technology, you can see passives as little as 0402, 0201 or even 010(.5).

There are even newer technologies (but I don't know if they will be applied to audio), where all the passive components (res, caps, ind) are actually placed in the inner layers of the PCB. Making it an actual 3D circuit. all the ICs and active components are placed on the outer surfaces.

I guess if the audio quality of this technology is good enough, we could be seeing multieffect units in a zvex sized enclosure in a few years.
