Good. Maybe now Juan will sort out a Racer X reunion with Paul Gilbert and the world will be a better place.

One of those bands that would have been remembered as pretty epic and unique, if they would've called it quits after the first album. The rest wasn't all bad I suppose, just not nearly as good as 'deloused' imo. Last two were seriously meh, at best. I'm not a huge fan of Omar's solo stuff either, as far as I'm concerned he should just team up with a couple other guys and form some sort of super group

Yep, I came in here to say this. Sayay what you will and I haven't listened to too much of their recent stuff but IMO those first two albums are excellent.

In other news, Sparta is touring again.

I'm not suprised/ its about time. They kind of ran their course. I liked Frances the Mute and Amputecture... The first two albums, as others have said, are also great. They definitely offered some cool stuff and inspiraton.

I've never really 'got' the few songs I listened to by them or felt compelled to investigate further, but judging by the consensus I will check out the first album now.

Low rent King Crimson calls it quits after 7 consective attempts to sound progressive.

Well that description has put me off. Damn I'm fickle.

De-Loused is one of my favourites. I still remember the first time I listened to it...blew my brains. Cedric's voice is a little much, but bearable with the awesome riffs and Jon Theodore's drumming. I enjoyed Frances the Mute and Amputechture, the rest I can do without.
Nothing eclipsed their first album I think.

Man, I feel like this forum has already changed.
I've never been a Mars Volta fan, but I liked how they sounded different, and the guitar sounds are so interesting (especially if you're into effects).
I also think this is very very cool:

Yeah man, when I said their first two albums earlier I wasn't even talking about Tremulant which also kicks ass. I thought Amputechture was cool too. I've seen them live four times and the first time I saw them on the Frances tour at the Avalon in Boston was one of the top live performances I've ever seen. It was just incredible. De Loused is one of my favorite albums.

I always thought they were horrendous and, until now, had assumed they broke up years ago.
