The black secret has more bottom end/ lower mids at all settings so it sounds a little thicker. That means that with the gain maxed it's a little more blown out sounding, but at lower settings it's pretty damn cool.

If I was the only guitarist in the band I'd consider this a little more, but since there is two guitarists I'm not fussed about too many lower mids/bottom end at the moment.

Sounds sensible. Also it'd totally depends on the rest of your setup as to which one works better anyway. I prefer the Rat to the Black secret because it's a better shape to stomp on.

Yeah I have my pitch box sideways on my board so I am less likely to stomp on the controls.

I don't know which songs specifically, but I know that David Gilmour used one extensively and a RAT was also all over early foo fighters albums. Jeff Beck has been known to use them also, Coldplay, there's so many bands out there using one now.

Cult of personality. Not the sound I get from my Rats, or one I'd particularly go for, but I do love the song, and it was a Rat...
Great trades with Tengo, Goldie-gold, Ancient Mariner, TritoneTerror and lowbrow

Yep he used it on Pulse tour. In fact he ditched his Fuzz faces in favor of EQ'd Rat II. I saw them on that tour. I wouldn't be surprised if he used through out the whole show..

Yeah exactly, no need to crank it, past 11:00 or so it starts to get a little fizzy.

I never am quite happy with the way the Rat sounds when I'm playing by myself but every time I kick it on at a show it sounds basically perfect.

So my Rat turned up. Got a cool sound out of it, but I will have to see how it fares at rehearsal.
