Is the cutout on the top or are the knobs on the top? Weird design. Nice looking wood though.

Once again, luthiers may know a lot about working with wood, but I don't think they make good visual designers.

good lord that's ugly.
For those who've sworn off ebay, here is my best attempt at a description... sorry it is long, but the points of reference are long and tortuous.
Start with a left-handed Iceman body, oak. Stain it that ugly, medium-light natural brown that everyone used in middle-school Wood Shop in the 70's. Rip off the uppoer bouts, and glue on the upper bouts of an LP, more oak. Then add more wood to fill in the lower bouts' cool offset thing and until it is a bloated teardrop shape, ala Vox, but far far uglier. THEN flip the thing over cuz this is a righthanded guitar. Slap on a Taylor, acoustic, non-adjustable, flattop bridge. Then the mini-hums....this thing won't sound thin and reedy enough w/just oak...we need mini-hums on it, too. Shaoe the headstock like a Dana cokebottle on Prednisone, and add a few non-descript hemorrhoids on top. Give'm a pearloid "8" at the twelth fret... no one will notice. And don't bother covering up the trussrod adjust slot at the base of the neck.
:shudders:

It's great that they're auctioning it off for charity... I suspect that's the only way it would sell. ![]()
Then again, there's no accounting for taste, and people buy stuff that I'd never consier all the time. To me, that design makes no sense (cutaway is on the wrong side of the neck) and it's just not visually very appealing at all.

I think more stunning than how crappy a design this is, is that fact that it has 38 bids for over $9k! I think I'll start my own "charity" guitar too. I'm sure I can come up with some fugly design, advertise it as the wood from the cross of Jesus, and make a million bucks.
