Another round of kudos on the house for everyone who posted in this thread before me. :robothappy:
And an extra one (as soon as I can figure out how to give him more than one for the same post - that's an admin thing, I'm sure) to IRG for explaining it so well. That's what kudos are for - acknowledgement of exceptional posts. Ever seen a bieke thread that knocked you out, or heard a Burg demo that really showed off a pedal in an outstanding way? Maybe it was something you read that was unusually helpful or that explained things in a exceptionally clear way. For the really cool stuff that you want to give a nod to - that's what kudos are for.
It gives you guys yet another way to say "hey, I like this!"
A great case in point is the thread I just stickied a few minutes ago with the Google Chrome visual / formatting workarounds in it. Fantastic work, and well deserving of kudos. :robothappy:

Kudó (with a long o, as in floor) is a Japanese word which means driving force. In kanji it is written 駆動. Compounds with this root include kudóryoku (駆動力, driving power) and kudórin (駆動輪, drive wheel).
Although most words come from Greek, this is a rare example of the reverse adoption.
English first it from Japanese, but changing the meaning to "honor or acclaim". Because if you have these, they are a kind of driving force in your life.
Finally, the Greeks copied the pluralized English word "kudos", changing it into "kydos".
And that, dear harmonizers (and harmonicas, not to leave out the ladies), is the honest-to-god, unembellished truth.
By the way, did the kids say you had the cooties in elementary school? Well, they're not laughing any more, now that you have kudos.
