I love the way echorecs sound but i'm extremely hesitant to pick up another Catalinbread pedal, i've tried several times to like what they do and haven't. The Gist is always there but it always comes up short and i flip...
That comparison video is pretty good you can definitely hear a difference.

I wish I had a tape echo. I almost scored a watkins copicat for £60 but it had sold in the day it took me to get the money (I was 16)

I know. I remember eyeing them on eBay around 2003 for $80-150. I scored some deals then, '86 Rat for $30, Companion-Fuzz Wah for $50, but still kicking myself for passing on the Copicat. I was hoping to find a Echoplex or Space Echo on the cheap. I wound up getting some cheap Univox echo with a proprietary tape cassette in a panic after the Copicat got away from me, and I don't know what happened to it.

To be honest, I Ithink a lot of it is "vintage cache" it does "tape echo" one better in terms of "vintage"
