what ones are good for synth-like sounds with a fuzz?
I'm a total filter noob.

You mightlike the Peavey Spectrum filter
it's anlog diode ladder LP (under digital control for program storage) and allows for envelope following (and here's a neat thing...it's got a 3 input mixer, so you can follow the envelope of one signal, but acutally filter a different signal based on the 1st signal's envelope) or onboard ADSR
It also has a VCA with an associated ADSR EG
It's got a lot of functionality, but it's knob driven and really easy to use

Has the exact same layout...but I think the circuit is a bit different.
is it the same as the current ibanez/maxon af-9?

Actually...for that matter...I'm not even sure if the current Ibanez/Maxon AF-9s are the same as the originals. DiscoFreq loves the 201 IIRC so he might know.

The qtron is just another Mutron III knockoff like the Ibanez/Maxons. I've never tried one so I don't know how they sound compared to the Ibanez stuff though.
how does the qtron+ fit in with all this
