so i got this tele w/ fender vintage reissue pick ups' neck goes 7.7k bridge 7.2 "ala alnico 3" and ima' diggin' the bakersfield blues kinda twang she's puttin' out, yet i need a set that will hold their own up against the texas special neck and middle as well as the ATOMIC hunbucker i gots' in the strat. Right the logical choise would be fender texas special tele set yaeh, but the ? is will they give me the twang that the vintage set does as they are alnico 3 "vintage set", and the specials are alnico 5. Anybody out there rockin' the texas special tele set, and if so can they cover bakersfield blues twang, tia...

i hear hear ya V, although i must say coaxin' twang outta the neck or middle of the strat "which again has alnico 5 mags' ala texas specials, is not quite bakerfield blue, but the again i'm hoping for the best results w/ a mesa dual rec pre amp, although i'll mostly be playin' twang on the tele through the reverberocket which handles twang in spades, yet the 3's in the tele compared to the 5's in the strat are a different twang all together on the reverberocket just the same, i'm prepaired for a bit'o'sacrafice either way...
as well i think i'm gonna need the extra k's outta the alnico 5 to be pacified...

On the cheaps you can get the Tonerider Hot Classics for Tele. Very nice pickups, but not what I was looking for because I was looking for much more volume/more beef/less twang/P90ish. I would describe the Toneriders as having slightly hotter than average output, still with plenty of twang. Really well made, though.
