This popped into my head a while ago:
How loudly can your soul be heard when you're playing your instrument?
If it had a volume knob, I would imagine "1" would be those times when you're having to learn something... a new song, new beat, etc... and you're having to think it through. "10" would be those times when stuff just 'comes out' of you, and you later wonder how you ever pulled it off!

Depends on the material. I used to be be a go for it drummer but learned through other musics and instruments that expression is a bit more detailed and crafty than your tortured face. If the material isn't inspiring, (unfortunately, the norm in my circles) soul is on pedantic details. There really isn't much I can do with crappy stuff without feeling like a showtard. If on the other hand, It's something I like, no prob. Feel like a star. lol

I would have to say that I would average around an 8, because for the most part I really enjoy what I am doing and find it to be rewarding. I probably drop down to a 4 when I'm playing a song that I don't like, and I shoot up to an 11 when I'm playing something I really like and pretty women are out on the dance floor!
