Old version? How do you get to that? This is what I got when I used my old bookmark. I'd stay with the old version until the wheels fall off but I don't expect the'll let us.

Yeah, I recommend going through the "My Settings" section (you have to be signed in of course) and try this and that.
I've opted for the really large font so far and I dialed down the brightness via my graphics card interface app. Life goes on.
I'm assuming that the rollout is Microsoft-style - that is, debug using the squeaky-user method. Ok, we'll live through that. No large wounds, no bloodloss from major arteries, etc. - all will be ok enough in time I trust.
The overall style is a lot like the endless big-postcard type ads I get in the mail. Garish, overcrowded, sort of random-feeling. Well, it will mostly all go invisible as I get used to navigating to what I want, blaze my little trails of clicks to here and there.
Gotta move on - it does run faster, no question. Now just get it sanded down, adjusted a half-turn here and a couple degrees there, get it broken in to my hands and eyes, and it will be home again.

What I did was hold Ctrl and use the mouse scroll wheel to adjust the inside forum width, and choose the medium font size. The process of increasing the width increases the font size i preferences, so I ended up with essentially a large font size and a wider forum width.

Mike, you cannot change it. The container is the primary place for certain forum settings, including the width of the main field (the area within the outside edges of the page view/background. This forum software may call it something else but the techs should know what "container" refers to.
Oh, so that "container" comment was to "them" and not something that you did in order to make your view of the forum more usable.
I normally keep Firefox set so the minimum font size is larger than what's coming in, but I've been finding (as it becomes more and more difficult for me to read small print on the monitor) that more HTML documents don't display well with that setting. "Click" buttons come out in the wrong place and don't work, and often text overlapps graphics. I set the minimum font size to "none" here and found that in the rich text mode, everything fits in the "container."
I can get bigger print by using Ctrl+ and lines still wrap. I'm going to try that for a whiile. Firefox, I think, has a way to remember settings on a per-site basis. Maybe it's smart enough to remember this, if I'm smart enough to figure out how to make it work.

So how do we edit and delete our posts? I've got a blank one above that I accidentally created while using my iPhone. There's no need to keep that one.
Best,
Geoff

"options" tab at the upper right of each post.

If you could just convince them to make the default version wider to begin with... but yeah, that move worked great for me too.

I initially didn't think making the font size any bigger (it was big enough for my tastes) wouldn't make that much difference, but (on my system) the default font at default size is a bit fuzzy. Changing the default font for the site switched it up to a better aliased and hinted size/version.
And, while the sidebars didn't bug me that much, zooming the page to get rid of them actually makes a much nicer screen -- even if, at that point, the font is big enough for first graders. ; )
And. oh, my gosh... the text is wrapping!!! Woo hoo!
Thank you, team!

Yeah Mike, it was intended for the admins to relate to the techs.
There's a macros section in the user control panel (My Settings) and I wonder if someone could build a macro that would work to make the container larger until they have an opportunity to fix the problem.

Yeah! Those were my concerns as well but after those changes it's looking and feeling great. Now it just seems a question of familiarity. And that's happening as we speak. Nice...

I just got a list of upcoming fixes. They already did the word wrap thing, which is effing great. They'll be doing the readability changes soon, and they're checking out the width issue and creating custom emoticons. They're definitely on it.
Also, the development team will be starting a blog on the site so you can get the lowdown on what's happening straight from those involved in the process.
