Excellent choice! I just got a 150 year old cello restored (my grandfather's) and I figured that it would be something I could "pick up". Ha .... that's one difficult puppy to play. So far I've mastered the opening riff to Smoke On The Water on the cello

I'm a classically trained violinist and teacher(as well as a guitar hack) and have also studied cello.

It IS very different from playing guitar, although the first 4 frets roughly correspond to the first 4 semi-tones on the cello.

If you have any questions about it give me a holler.

Re: The Morning Drive CD

This morning's "listen while you dress" tune for me was

Pink Floyd - P.U.L.S.E. - High Hopes

What a great track, especially the orchestral ending.
I'm just a sucker for a good ending where an orchestra comes in. :smileyhappy:

Costco has all the Pink Floyd CD's @ $13.79 .... Echoes is the next on the list. Hey, I re-discovered my Led Zeppelin III over the weekend (had vinyl .... bought the CD .... holy flashbacks Batman! :smileyvery-happy: )

.... and my 6 year old actually asked me to play Comfortably Numb (from the Roger Waters DVD) ... he didn't know the name of the song so I had to flip through the DVD chapters until he heard which song it was he wanted .... it was a cool experience for me .... he likes the way Doyle Bramhall plays guitar (upsidedown)

Re: The Morning Drive CD

Last week was mostly Sugar "Beaster" and "File Under Easy Listening" with the occasional Son Volt "Trace" (when I can pry it out of my wife's mitts) and Uncle Tupelo's "Anodyne". My 6 year old daughter keeps bugging me to bring King's X "Faith Hope Love". I swear to god she was in her room the other day singing "It's Love" and she's only heard the CD a coupla times!!! It must really speak to her.

Re: The Morning Drive CD

This morning was

Rush - Different Stages - YYZ

Last night before going to sleep I turned off all the lights and started listening to Cygnus X-1 by Rush through my headphones. Everything was dark, and the prologue actually spooked me pretty bad.

Imagine a 17 yr old cowering under a safety blanket with headphones on :smileytongue:
