If the venue is a sports bar, I would confirm with the owner/manager. If it's a bar that happens to have a TV, I would start on time. The management should be cognizant of the patrons' desires and should advise you accordingly. You can always stop or cut down as the game gets going, but I certainly wouldn't willingly sacrifice a paying gig over it.
Then again, it's baseball. Televised golf may be slightly more boring, but it's close.
