It's a Squire Jazz if that helps. Probably from the 80's.
Those were the 'Japanese Squiers'...actually very well made compared to Chinese (or even Korean) Squiers

Don't worry, Hippy - there'll be hair in the hot tub as soon as we get the new one installed!

Scrubby wrote:Yo DMack, look again old mate, it's on the 3rd string i.e. between the 3rd and 4th pegs.
And I've never seen that before. You have links?
ah, Scrubby, you must count the strings the other way; to me that 'added tree' is on the A (I call that the second string), and yes, that looks aftermarket. The previous owner may have been using extra light bass strings?
You call the 2nd fattest string A.
Changing the gaol posts mid play old mate?
The fattest string on my guitar is the 6th string.
The fattest string on my pedal steel is the 10th string.
The fattest strings on my mando is 7 and 8.
The fattest string on my fiddle is the 4th string.
So you are saying that the convention I've known for the last 45 yrs is ignored where the bass is concerned.
The fattest string on my bass is the 4th string. Therefore it would follow logically and without ego to make my case that the 3rd string would be an A.
I think you try too hard to get the last word in my good man.
And remember old mate, nobody knows everything.
Have a nice day.

No, I'm saying I see it the other way around...then again, I don't typically use numbers, just letters...the price of being self-taught on guitar and tending to reject conventions...

I like it - the bloody pages actually load! At first I didn't like the layout and the more elaborate way of posting pics and stuff, but I've learnt the new ways. It's all Kool and the Gang with me now - except for the lackluster/limited emoticons.
