Jon, you've got the perfect mix of cool and talent. And having met you, I can say that you're very well centered and humble. I'm not surprised at all that you're getting these opportunities: I always thought you were the standout member in your old casino band.

We talk a lot on here about (someone else's) vocals, production: sometimes everything but our own musical contributions to the band we're in - which implies that we are as far along musically as we can be.

To me: your situation is proof that working harder to be the best individual musician you can be pays off in a band situation, whichever one you're in at the time.

Keep on rockin'.

Nice post.^^^

Hey! Fantastic! I love ZZ Top. Seeing them as old crusty dusty dudes, man, Billy is so cool. He spits out licks with greasy panache. His singing is weathered, it was when he was 21, but now, it is perfect. Gravely, soft, relaxed, and badass to the nth degree. Have fun, and take a tip from the Tres Hombres, mellow down easy.

We're transitioning from 'Beau & The Outfit' to ' Beau Hodges Band'

The show went amazingly well. We got a great soundcheck - tons of time to dial it in just right, and we played the best set we've ever played.

Didn't get to meet the Gib, but I am going to try harder when we do it again tomorrow night!

Hey Wade, thanks man! I'm just having fun and making music. What more could you ask for?

Well, OK, maybe I could ask that the music be my income/career.... but who knows what the future holds....

Nasty Habits was my old cover band - apparently there are a fair number of classic rock cover bands around the country named Nasty Habits (which is fine, since none of them are trying for global domination...)

So, we didn't get to meet the guys. Seems our singer forgot to send the email requesting a meet and greet/photo op (yet he still found his way into the green room to get a picture..... ugh/whatever)

Billy did pop in during sound check, though. We checked an all-in heavy song and then started a lighter tune to dial in the banjo and mando and as we started we looked out and there he was. He listened for a bit, gave a grin and a thumbs up and headed back stage.

Goose bumps and a big old smile - it was really a kinda cool moment!
