Much respect...

http://www.theday.com/article/20130209/ENT10/130209735

Quick synopsis -- Bon Jovi was scheduled to play at Mohegan Sun in CT tonight. In the past 24 hours, this area has received between 20 and 30 inches of snow, and most of the roads are impassable. I haven't had a plow down my road since sometime yesterday afternoon.

They rescheduled their show to October at the end of their tour -- and then played the show anyways this afternoon for the people who were stuck in the casino and the hotel.

Re: Much respect...

Very cool - I heard they were letting folks in for free too. I'm only 45 minutes away normally but no way was I going out on those roads  .

Re: Much respect...

Considering tickets are well over $100, it might have been worth the drive...if you could make it.

We got 26 inches of snow here in New London, and I still have hip deep drifts on my street. The Mayor's Office official response is "We'll get there when we get there". Evidently expecting a plow to come through once in the past 24 hours in unreasonable.

Re: Much respect...

I worked for Tower Records for a number of years in the late 80s/early 90s and my position presented me with the opportunity for many backstage pages, meet-and-greets, dinners with recording artists, etc.  Good times.   And while I was never a huge fan of the band, I have to say that Bon Jovi were probably the coolest, most down-to-earth rock stars I met during that time.  And considering they were pretty much at their peak when I met them, that's saying quite a bit.

They easily could have been dicks to a bullshit record-store employee.  Many people in their position were.  They were very cool.  Much respect.

My house is on the road between rt 395 and the state highway department so I get plowed continuously  and I'm only a one house away from the on-ramp. I'm also adjacent to a modern industrial park which has power directly from the power plant down the road so I hardly ever lose power  . But the snow was deeper than my snowblower is tall so I killed myself pushing it through .

Re: Much respect...

I don't care for his music, we play a few of his songs. He's sounds like a good guy though.

These people know nothing about snow.  I don't even bother to shovel the driveway unless it's more than a couple of feet....  :smileyhappy:
