Re: It Will Take Some Getting Used To.....

Doesn't matter where it is, as long as we can get to it.

I gotta say, seeing this forum listed under the GEAR FORUMS is a shame. But I think that will suit a lot of folks better.

Actually, ALL the forums are listed under "gear forums" for whatever reason.  This one is still subheaded under "live performance" as it was before.

But, if it makes you feel better, I'm sure you can ask the powers-that-be to drop the word "gear" from the title.   It WOULD be more accurately titled as simply "FORUMS".

Re: It Will Take Some Getting Used To.....

After visiting daily since the change, trying to get used to it, and trying to like it, I find that I like the old format better. Things were easier to find, not that they are that difficult now, but less direct. I liked the way it looked better before, but that's personal taste.

On the other hand, I like the fact that when I click something, it happens instead of just staring at me for a few minutes first.

But this is it, so this is what I'll use.

Re: It Will Take Some Getting Used To.....

Notes, I hear you about hard to find. I don't why, but it seems to take me at least 5 minutes to find a link to BWTB.

Maybe they could just put a list of forums on the front page? It's not like there are reviews or anything anymore on this site. Or if there are, I can't find them.

Too bad they haven't incorporated a "default forum" option that we could specify in our profile preferences (i.e., put me into the forum I've specified when I log on - or at least have it appear as a link directly on my home page - rathern than forcing me to go thru 2-3 layers of menus to get there...)

Other than that though ... I'm getting acclimated to the new format.   It's different - but it works - and that's what's truly important to me!

I'm all good now. I don't have any issues with the board. I log in, go to "Live Performance" and I'm all set. I like the way the quote feature works. My other favorite board has it the same way. I wouldn't mind the multi-quote but that's ok. I also like the "kudos" button.

Being the idealistic whore that I am, initially I thought it a bit crass that all the forums be labeled "gear" forums. But over that now.

BTW doesn't it seem considerably easier to embed youtube videos now? Or is that just the payoff for actually taking time to read the "help" menu?

Re: It Will Take Some Getting Used To.....

A lot of things are better/easier with this forum. Other stuff is worse.  Most of the stuff that is missing, I'm learning to do without.

If I were on the design end of things, I'd be less concerned about making it as much like the old forum as possible for the old timers as I would be concerned about what the experience is like for newcomers.   The oldtimers are either going to adjust, or will be SO tied to the old format that nothing would please them anyway.

They still need to fix some of the front page stuff.  You really should be able to see the name of each forum and the latest topic being discussed on the front page.  That should be Forum 101.  Few new people are ever going to make it over to BWTB because it's buried under so many sub-forums.

Most of the other stuff that bugs me about it are kinda nitpicky and I'll probably get over.  I think it's weird that it tells you how many people have viewed each thread, but doesn't tell you how many replies there have been, for example.  I like knowing how "hot" a topic is.

Re: It Will Take Some Getting Used To.....

Oh, this old time is adjusting, but I still find getting to my favorite places more indirect, which means more mouse clicks and with this ATT connection, more waiting for the page to load. It's workable, but for me, less efficient.
