Call for Opinions: Tribute Band

First off, thanks for reading this.

I play in a Billy Joel tribute band named An Innocent Band; www.aninnocentband.com We are from Indianapolis. We have played the Indiana State Fair, both major casinos around Indy, Garfield Park’s (Indy Parks Dept) “Celebrate the Greats” concert, Rushville’s Summer Concert Series, a couple private engagements, and a couple of bar shows. We have received stellar feedback from every show and I have begun collecting those comments and putting them onto our website.

I think the band sounds fantastic and is loaded with very talented players and some great entertainers. It seems that anyone who sees us likes us. The problem is that we are not seen enough! We would like to increase our exposure everywhere but in the bar scene.

My question for any who care to express their opinions is what should An Innocent Band do to increase our visibility, marketability, and just plain land more non-bar gigs?

Thank you for all opinions,

Gregg - Guitarist

Advertise. Contact venues, maybe legions, other venues.

Maybe there's an agent out there that can get you into rooms that would be a good match for your act.

Jeff,

Are you using Google Chrome? I got the same error message using Chrome but not with IE. The web guys said there is something there that they will have to go through and clean out but it hasn't effected us in any other way yet.

Thanks!

Re: Call for Opinions: Tribute Band

Take a look a Gigmasters. They have been a fantastic source of good paying private events for us and I know a lot of tribute bands get work there as well. You need good audio and video demos to get work (haven't had the chance to look at your stuff yet) but if you guys are good, I can't imagine a good Billy Joel act wouldn't work a lot

Radio works amazingly well. You have to have an ad that says what they are hearing is you. You need to pick appropriate stations. It's not cheap, but I'm betting a payback in less than a year of either better paying or more jobs. (Probably both.)
