Yep, especially when brand new hardware 8-tracks, even with CD burning capability and 40GB HD's nowadays can be had for an average of $400 - $600, $800 can probably get you a high-end 16 track recorder.

Last time I listed my ovation, THREE ads for almost the identical guitar popped up, for HALF the price I was asking.

My digital 8-track has a 40GB HDD, masters in WAV and exports the master(s) or track(s) in WAV via USB. Bought it new for $299 back in 2007.
Technology just got cheap, fast. It's a shame, but at the same time, worked for me, I can do quick and easy scratch tracks by only pushing a button, export, convert to mp3 via my laptop and send to rest of band, whole process takes less than 10 minutes.

It's funny, I still have my Fostex DMT-8vL 8-track that I bought for $1,100 in '98 and still use it for monitoring input levels and recording audio from Reason, as well as some scratch tracks. Of course, unfortunately no USB, so there's the tedious task of unplugging and reconnecting patch cables.

Looks like now may be the time to be picking up amp heads/cabs cheap!
Yeah, it's definitely the time to stockpile on cheap stuff that folks like you guys are having trouble moving.

I just joined here and noticed this thread.
I too have equipment, amps, cabs mainly, that are pretty much brand new.
I'd like to try CL but I live in a small condo apartment and can't have people trying out 100w heads/cabs, plus I'm real paranoid about having strangers come over.
What I'd like to do is deliver the stuff myself to a buyer that knows the product and thats the specific item they're looking for to buy.
Because, I don't want to run into a situation where I'm hauling this stuff around to peoples homes just to 'browse'.
For example, I have a amp head that I guarantee is mint and like new. So I need to find that person that is already sold on that particular amp and wants to buy.
Think this can be accomplished?

That'd be great except I don't want people over and I can't have people putting loud amps, or any other for that matter, through their paces.

No one in their right mind would buy gear without trying it first. I don't buy shoes without trying them on.

I've done so hundreds of times. the gear and the shoes a few times. If you buy the gear right, you can pretty much try it out for little or nothing if you don't like it.

I've been trying to sell a Yamaha electronic kick drum -- their top of the line model -- for 50% of what it's selling new. I've had it listed for almost two months in various places; I've tried eBay (even with a Best Offer button), Craigslist, Harmony Central, and other local resources. It sells online for about $400 and I'm listing it at $240 with shipping included. The box hasn't even been opened yet. Never used a single time.
I haven't had one response yet, from any of those resources, in those two months. Well, not one response that wasn't from a scammer on eBay or Craigslist, anyway.
After fees and shipping I'll be making $200 on the thing, tops. It's not even worth it to sell it for any cheaper than that. I'd have killed for one of these at that price before!
