Does anyone have any experience with the E112ST? Anyone used one with a Fireball?

I just sold my Blackmore...what a sellout I am. :smileysad: Oh well, it was to fund a Caparison, and I'll be back to the Engl clan in the near future...with a Savage 120. :thu:

Re: The Engl Thread

Yeah I'm trying to talk a deal on the Savage 120 in my local music shop. Its been in the store for over 18 months so i should be able to swing someting special ( 30% or more off retail).

I'm just sick of waiting for the Powerball v2 to come in. They havn't even given me a date yet. I'm also really attracted by the Savage 120's headroom (extra 20 watts) and 2 effects loops. I'd love to just set up my clean effects on main channel 1 and leave channel 2 in its pure form (perhaps some delay for certain passages).

With some subtle tube changes/tweaking etc. I reckon I'd be able to get my perfect tone with the Savage (It was 95% there when I tried it out).

I'm not ging to bother to wait for the new savagfe 120 to come out (with noise gate etc.) it could take ages. I'll just buy a noise gate and run it through the loop on main channell 2 if needed. Derek B from rocksolid amps said that the ISP decimator was damn good...might try and track one down in Australia.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Engl Thread

New Savage 120 huh? Maybe that'll be out by the time I have enough money for one? But I'd rather just score a used one cheap.

Re: The Engl Thread

Yeah there is supposed to be one coming out with a noise gate etc. but no resease date yet. The current one kicks ass anyway and its just as easy to buy a kick ass noise gate pedal like the isp decimator. + The effects loop seemed really good on the Savage, didnt suck the tone out as my Dual Rectifier did.

Hows the caparison going?

Re: The Engl Thread

Yeah, I could care less about a noise gate, I have an NS-2 already. The Caparison should be here tomorrow. Obviously I'll start a thread about it when it arrives. :smileyvery-happy:

Re: The Engl Thread

I've always wanted to know if the savage does death metal differently than either of the balls? I wish I could get an 860 rackhead, Muhammed from Necrophagist swears it's the best amp ever it seems.

I have a live video of Necrophagist where the other guitarist is playing a Blackmore. I'd take a Savage or Blackmore over a Powerball/Fireball for death metal anyday. The Blackmore is so god damn clear, perfect for fast picking intricate stuff. And it obviously has more than enough gain for any type of metal.

saxamafone, is the ISP really that much better than the NS-2? I don't see how it could be that much better?

it really is awesome mega!
as robo said - it's the best noise reduction around.
i noticed the NS-2 to add some high end and definately altered the tone a little.

the isp is NO tone alteration whatsoever - i had another guitarist in the studio the other night.. he was playing and i kept asking him to tell me when he thought the isp was on/off.. he couldn't tell the difference at all, neither could i.

the isp will allow for stop/start "gate" like muting while giving long natural sustain at the same time :thu:
i refuse to play a high gain amp now without one.. it's that good!

the average non geek person might argue there's not that much of a difference b/w all noise reducers but to us tone geeks/freaks - there's definately a difference mate:smileyhappy:

well to quote Muhammed on the 860 vs. Blackmore "countless a/b comparisons done and it doesn't come close" or something like that.

I know the guitarist switched to another 860 now.

Although i've heard that the blackmore has the same preamp as the 860, just uses different tubes. one of them uses el84 and the other 6l6. although i'm sure that's changed easily enough.

Thanks for the info!!!! Cheers.

What model did you get?

HOw did you go about getting it into Australia? Did you just pay on their web site and have it shipped here? Costs etc. would be very helpfull (inclusive, shipping tax etc.)

Re: The Engl Thread

MEGA: What they said is correct about the ISP...it is really the best in what it does IMO....it wont trail off like the NS2 but it sucks no tone away..my ns2 always pissed me off becuase it just did something wierd to the tone..almost smoothed it out a bit and did add some wierd high end.

cheers!

in australia, you only pay customs tax and gst if the value of the item is over $1000AU..
if you buy anything overseas that's valued under $1000 then you don't pay anything except shipping.
EDIT: - i mean $1000 including shipping aswell

yes i buy through the music123 site using paypal - bought many items and never had a problem.
i bought the pedal version coz then you don't have to worry about stepdown converters etc.. it runs on 9V just like any other stomp.

i think mine cost about $200AU including shipping.
