Yeah, doesn't sound like its worth the extra $$$$ as far as I know, its almost double the price here.

Serious? I got both amps off eBay, Savage SE was about $500 more. The extra $$$ are for the "on-the-fly" versatility and tonal range. If it's double the $$$ in Oz then I'd go with the Powerball.

Hey you lot are going to cream us in tonight's one-dayer. But we have a devious plan to kidnap Brett Lee...

Its actually getting kind of boring... Australia wins everything these days (especially cricket). I much prefer being the underdogs. Brett Lee is a good bowler but I'm not really a fan, you can have him. He's in this ghey cricket band (think they're called hows that or something) and he's pretty arrogant. Oh, then we've got Warne, thats even worse... my favourites are Darren Lehman and Jason Gillespi (mullet boy) The're from my town and are good guys but they havnt been playing that great lately. Anyway good luck, hope its a close match.

I'm going to try out a Framus Cobra and a Savage 120 today or tomorow. The other music shop told me yesterday that I could be waiting 4 to 5 months to get an ENGL in. Thats just Crazy as I've been waiting 4 months already.

Oh and Im seeing Motley Crue Tomorrow, old school yeah!!!!!!!!

(has anyone seen Tommy lee's new clip, its fucked its like a backstreet boy song. That guy must be fucked up from all those drugs.)

You're wrong, the Savage SE is no longer available except for one or two stores in Germany. The new SE (not Savage) is a lot more expensive then the Savage120.

It's a bit smoother and doesn't have the high mid bite of the 120, I can get them close but the 120 just has that cutting edge on it.

I'm wrong??? ok....

I know they're no longer available.. I was aware that Beyers music in Germany have them.

The Savage SE was always going to be significantly more expensive (okay, maybe not double). $500 is alot (especially if thats $US. It would make the amp closer to $4000 than $3000, a fair difference which to me is half way towards a new guitar....

It sounds like I'd prefer the standard Savage anyway, and that has more features than I already need (besides a noise gate which would be handy, which isn't in the Savage se anyway...)

Re: The Engl Thread

Still every time i plug in the Savage 120 im still just plugged in.

My setup is simple:

Jackson Death Angel into Savage 120 - Engl standard slanted with celestion V60's.

I changed tubes to EH6550 tubes and rebiased the amp and changed the phase inverter tube to a JJ12AX7 tube from eurotubes.com and WOW!! the Savage turned in to a monster.... LOW end and bass is just astunning, highly recommended :thu:

I changed the PI tube and tried it first with the old Power tubes and and same huge upgrade

Engl Savage 120
Engl 4x12 with Celestion V60's
EH Power tubes
JJ preamp tubes from Bob
