So hi.
I'm new here.
Yes, this all sucks. No, I am not happy in the least. But the assholes with the offensive screen names and shit starting threads, cut it out, please.
I know tempers are high so I am going to allow you all a chance to police yourselves. If you can keep your threads limited to "The forum sucks, here's why" that would be awesome. or if you want to lash out, make a single thread and keep it in there.
Hey, they fixed the word wrap thing! Or did they?
Anyway, yes, it sucks. I am sure people are working on it. You're frustrated. The mods are frustrated. The admin team is frustrated. All I am asking for is a little respect for each other and the admin team for the time being until we see if this is how it's going to be, or if it's a work in progress.
Love you guys!

Yeah the endless b.itc.h fest threads are annoying. Like you said, either offer constructive criticism on how to improve, or quit yer b1tching.

Thats a fascinating idea. Except for that no one ever listens to the ideas.

I'm not even saying "don't bitch". I REALLY understand the frustration. I am that way as well. But either be constructive or try to limit all the bitching to one thread is all I'm asking. I know right now we're all sensitive so I don't want to force anyone to do anything. Just trying to help.

JC, you can again? Prove it, ban Anderton!
IDK why everyone is complaining, it is faster and now that I found the quote feature, this isn't too bad.
Yeah, now everyone mention that I like how my El Diablo amps sound... well get bent as they sound great if you can turn the EQ knobs!
JC ban them too! ![]()

I think most are just wondering how it got to this point in the first place. HC use to work GREAT and had all the reviews, a ton more members and was probably the most popular music site on the internet. The last year or two it's went majorly downhill. The reviews left, the forums quit working 50% of the time and a big portion of the members left.
I think most wonder why the layout everyone likes just wasn't updated instead of a total change to something unfamiliar. There are alot of big Vbulletin forums that don't seem to have any issues and at this point have way more members than the dwindling HC crowd.
I personally am willing to give this new layout a shot but like most wonder why it had to completely change formats instead of fixing/updating the format everyone wanted.

"Everyone" is not payiong for this website. Just becuase other forum members like us...and we're very popular...doesn't make you boss pay the bills. Soprry for the harsh reality.
If anyone doesn't like it...it's a free country...go pay for your own website.

Members make websites/companies money. It is important to make members happy and create a site that gets alot of traffic. These sites aren't here just out of the kindness of companies hearts. They exist because they generate money through advertising and sales.
Anyone can make a website. I know very few that will spend a ton of money creating one with no monetary benefits though. The reality is that the members are very important to a website wether you realize that or not. Lose your members and the sites purpose and value become useless.

Much of this is true. Interesting that most users here promoted sales elsewhere. One of the reasons I said see how much better the rules for posts, content on SW and AMS's forum are. Those places owned by their retail co's are heavily moderated and censored for content. In a way they have to be.
The actual reasons have been spelled out by Phil and Craig. The site in its capacity as well as features they required could not be efficiently operated as VB, hasn't been for two years since after the first HC2.0 problem and what they were using for main page, editorials, reviews etc teh had trouble accommodating on VB alone. What they decided upon fulfills the needs at the most efficiency and provides a better area especially for mobile users which they suspect are 1/2 if not more of the viewership now.
FWIW I see a lot of places transitioning for mobile devices.
Our company recently revamped its complete software to run on W8 and many with touch capable screens. The XP users were furious. Of course they will have to adapt or find new employment. After the first two weeks, they are finding their computing tasks are not near as limited and more efficient. Yes, a new learning curve and things are different after 8-10 years of Xp, but they can look forward to a better experience. Our system is W7 capable should there be any requirement to revert.
Change happens. I've even learned already not to attempt to type curse words. Scary stuff! lol

If you followed Craig Anderton's posts: the forums LOSE money, and they are trying to stem the bleeding so that the owning company won't just pull the plug.
That they are still here is probably due to serious lobbying from people like Craig, from the Jive fiasco onwards.

IMO it would be hard to track if they are truely losing money from this site. They might not be profiting from advertising but how many people that visit here end up buying items from MF, 123 Music, etc.. because of this place. I personally know this place has caused me to make several purchases I probably wouldn't have otherwise.
As far as the new forum, I personally don't mind the change. I would have preferred a Vbulletin style forum but if they've outgrown that style then that's that.

1st off....how do you know "we" "make money" for HC/MF? How much?
2ndly....it depends WHICH forum members are being driven off. The ones that are mostly concerned with cursing? Using HC as Facebook?
Some that went on exudus were very good forum members. Billy was a great resource here and I hope he visits. There were MANY others who weren't interested in talking about amps much, or using the resources of HC as an entire and large community. These peopelthatleft think Harmony Central will die without them, what does that say? It says a LOT about their attitude, that's what.
I personally think HC will survive just fine. Maybe it needed a good cleasning and facelift. Like when you do solid spring cleaning, you might lose some sentimentaly things and memories, but it doesn't take long to gather more.
