Everything is going up. Just finished a seminar for instance that discussed these very things. Most of what is happening is merely technology in place. That technology has an immediate cost to ANY business, however that technology used reduces need for more employees. CT is another huge impactor on mid wage jobs.
Parts companies, warehouses are all moving to automation. The upfront automation costs will have to be recovered before the $ starts to really show margins they expect. depending upon the scale of the automation, those companies will hike their prices.
Parts shoppers, new builders are all getting their parts online. They can get automated quotes without havin to talk to a salesman during regular business hours.
I was talking to an automotive parts supplier than went LSA. Large scale automation. He went from having 65 employees to 17. In the new age of healthcare, higher payroll taxes this IS the trend.
This affects the amp designer in much the same way. Immediately, they see the higher prices of their own inventory and shipping which they must pass on to the retail side of their product. At the same time, they might be rescaling their business as well (at a cost) and market their product respective to new costs etc.
Off to catch another flight!

Mostly because of the falling US dollar. Our dollar buys less, whether a manufacturer or consumer. So, to buy the same thing...it costs more.
I sometimes think about our wacked out economics system. We pay more for stuff, then we need a raise, then they have to raise the price of stuff because they are payrolling more, than we need a raise to pay for rising costs of stuff, then they have to raise the price of stuff becuase they paying more for stuff, then we need more money to pay for stuff and....etc. LOL.

You know what they say "spit rolls down hill" with that said...
Minimum wage went up big time in the past 4-5 years. Cost every company more to operate so they adjust their prices to reflect their constant greed for more profits. Therefore cost of living goes up and now people that work in higher paying jobs want an increase in pay to adjust to it. Its just a cycle from here.
Now the two minimum wage roommates renter wants more $$$ to adjust to it AND their food and products cost more now to so they got nowhere with it.
As for the higher paying jobs same thing happens to them.
My favorite complaint is from the trucking industry whom fuel cost have pretty much nothing to do with the above. Winy about fuel cost so they charge more for the SAME end profit/wages. What's the complaint here??????
If I were a CEO I'd take FULL advantage of the new pricing!
Food 4 Thought
The rich get richer and the poor get............BLEEPED!!!

It is inflation you fucking retards.
EDIT - prices would have gone up about 10% in 5 years due to inflation.

The prices you're paying in the US are starting to get closer to the prices we've always been paying in Canada. Everything up here has always been much more expensive, and since CAD is now ~ 1 USD a lot of Canadians have been hopping the border and shopping on the lower prices.
