Give me a better option, and I'll post that instead.

I asked this afternoon about how we could relax this, and the filter has already been modified to be less stringent than it was originally.

Some words were censored before with vBulletin, which you probably didn't know because you didn't use those words. On vB we were really hardcore (let's see if that gets bleeped) about only two things: No objectionable words in thread titles or sigs, because the actual text in posts mostly flies under the radar but thread titles and sigs don't. I'm hoping we can revert to a policy more like that.

Also, I double-checked about the Google/ads thing because I was only going on information I'd been told. Several people verified that was in the fact the case. I asked how come the AOL chat rooms and other sites are ten times worse and nothing ever happens to them. The answer was "they don't serve Google ads."

Just because I accept something doesn't mean I have to like it, nor does it mean I can't try to come up with some alternative solution. Nor does it mean I'm the only one here trying to find alternatives.

There are now eight music videos posted on my YouTube channel, including a cover of "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," which joins "Little Pieces", "Black Market Daydreams," and "When the Grid Goes Down" (complete with disturbing video )

After being around for 2.0 and all the forum crashes, I can understand some frustration and agree even as a poster who doesn't swear all the time that something like a rated PG forum would be lame when it comes to some of the humor that has been a part of the forum probably since it started.

But from reading many of Craig's posts over time, IMO he's a cool person and seems to be trying to make the best of what's going on right now. IMO 2.0 was much worse, partly because it was also very slow and much less readable. The color scheme will probably be able to easily be changed or maybe customized by the user (hopefully), and some formatting changes could go a long way such as the quote function being improved.

The two previously censored words I knew of were a certain C-word, i.e. **bleep** (<- yes, also censored here) and retard, which funnily enough isn't amongst the 780462570645 words censored here.

But yeah, you've always come across as someone actually wanting to make this place (and the old forum, and the 2.0 catastrophe) work for the users, even if your influence can only reach so far. So thanks for the efforts. :smileyhappy:

IDK, I'm not one that is going to p!ss and moan about change or new directions . Happens every year at work.

I'm a conservative so many I know here should be welcoming change! Not sure what's up with that. lol.

It is what it is. If this is their direction, maybe instead of complaining, why not just see if they can improve the things needed.

The language filters are becoming all too common in many forums especially owned by retail.

I can understand their point and what was easily gotten away with before isn't so easy. This is not a private ran site.

It's business owned. With that, comes certain discretionary matters on content provisions made. I said this before:

See if Sweetwater or AMS' forum has the same provisions HC has had (which may have cost MF a lot of money supporting).

I don't know the particulars but have been in high enough exec positions to understand their thinking.

Google making this site have poor marks is NOT a good thing. Seems initially HC tried to improve that ranking by taking down

certain content that may have been objectionable or offensive. We have seen the GC/MF retail problems. We visit their forum

and at the same time drive retail markets elsewhere? Then want them to not change things?

In their minds, they may figure hey it's change. No more anything goes. In order to gain a respectful sponsorship they must?

Might be bad for users here, but they must figure HC's user base will grow again.

FWIW I am a huge fan of the articles and reviews. Pro and other. They have been essential in many of my purchases.

So have many from SOS articles and I also am a huge fan of the videos, articles Craig Anderton has provided in many

areas of gear and software purchases in the past 15 years or so. CA doesnt run this show.

Anderton, I have no idea how to quote you on this piece of **bleep** forum..."Reply" would seem to quote text, but no it can't be that simple.

Can you please go to page 6 and address my post?

Click on reply....click on "quote". WOW...QUOTE APPEARS! It's magical!

Come on, really? You are too stubborn to explore the new format?

We'vewenjoyed using HC as Facebook for quite soem time, and maybe that's changed now. Great thing is...you can make your OWN thing! It seems we have plenty of experts about how to make and run a forum...now all we gotta do is pay for it.
Simple solution.

I've voiced my opinions in the feedback forum, so I won't repeat them. I will say that I am one of the long time members here, since 2001, and have seen many ups and downs. While I do not gel with the new format or sensors, to shoot the messenger (Anderton) seems silly. I am my companies IT Manager and I know what it is to have a thankless job. You work your ASSz off pulling an all nighter to get the systems updated, per your boss, and when you show up to work the next day after getting 1 hour of sleep, everyone bitchez at you, as if you had a choice. Not being an assz kiss, but I find that things are more productive and I am able to get what I want, when I have a rational discussion, rather than just bash someone that is just following orders and reporting on things as such.

Yeah Anderton, address KCTC! Can't you tell his importance by him signing off with his user name initials. He's so pi'ssed he couldn't even have the decency to sign his full user name. The tiger CHIEF!  He's certainly not one whos gonna tell you how he could have done it better and how in his job he can empty everyone's trash bin with 1 click.. If you answer him and his questions, Im sure some solutions will be found.. Im just sure of it.. lol

I can't believe the amount of babies on here.. Here is the solution, whether any of you like it or not.. And one simple fact, This isn't that bad.. The old forum was Shiite for soo long, that any thing that runs better IS better.. So you need to learn a few new ways to do some simple things like quoting.. Big f'ing deal. I figured it out in , ooh, about 3 seconds.. There will obviously be some flaws to start.. Is that really that hard to understand and deal with? The answer is no, unless you are a child masquerading as a man.The saying of "Who pi'ssed in your cereal this morning?" has never been more fitting than the abundance of whining that Ive seen since the change... I believe The majority of you are just whining cause the select LOUD few are whining.. And in case you think otherwise, this forum has a small but very vocal group of followers who will all run in the same direction as soon as the first one runs. Its like clockwork.. And its no different than some high school clique b.s. And some of you still act like pubescent teens ..

But in case Im way off and Im just the assole who's not afraid to point out things in plain ole harsh reality, there is still this little fact..  This is what they did.. End of story. You wont change it, besides getting some bugs worked out. If you really really cant stand it and have to "leave", then who cares? Go.. I don't care and no one else does either. You gotta go out with some heartfelt goodbye? lol. I wish you guys can see yourselves.. Acting so self important.. Its just a place on this disease called the internet where people can gather.. Its still that.. You don't want to be a part of it because its changed and it makes you go "OMG, Now what am I gonna do with my life?" Then this change was the wakeup call you needed in life! Cause really.. And I mean REALLY!@ Who gives a f.uck.!

That is such a wrong attitude. What you're SUPPOSED to think is that less than 24 hours after launching a complex website on a new platform that was rushed into operation because of frustration with how the previous forums were, everything is supposed to be perfect and all the change requests people have asked for will have been implemented. Also, that nothing will ever improve or change, that I'm personally responsible, and MF has daily meetings about how best to kill the site.

Please re-edit your post to have the proper attitude. :smileyhappy:

I want it all, and I want it now. Every new feature possible, but don't change the look or functionality. Everything louder than everything else. And **bleep**.

It's awesome hanging out on a forum run by a bunch of corporate dickwads. /sarcasm

Seriously, guys GTFO of here and get over to openjam.net. It's the new HCAF. If you sit around and just take it from behind everytime MF screws with this site, you are enabling them and have no one to blame but yourselves.
