Judging from the color scheme and the graphics that are taking up half of the screen, I would guess they are trying to tie things in with Musicians Fiend. That would probably explain the iron fisted censor too.
I don't know... I was pretty patient with them through the 2.0 fiasco, but this all seems very familiar. Kind of like 2.0 with a different background.

Most of these complaints are about style and layout, things that can be easily changed in the site backend. Rather than whining like a bunch of sisies, why don't you come up with suggestions and wait a little.
I agree at present the forum is looking a bit **bleep**, but I am willing to give it a go. HC 1.0 was properly FOOKED so no real chance of going back.

Meanwhile, at MF headquarters...
Forum software pitchman: She'll go 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene.
MF executive: What country was this software built in?
Forum software pitchman: It no longer exists. But take her for a test drive, and you'll agree – 'Zagrevev min zlotny dev!'"
MF executive trying it out: It doesn't seem to be working properly.
Forum software pitchman: Put it in H!

Exactly right. This forum is driven by the community, and the only way changes are to be made is if everyone voices their opinion instead of standing in a circlejerk and complaining.

You don't remember 2.0, do you? Given that Lithium is, for all intents and purposes, exactly the same as Jive, you'd be surprized at all the things that can't be changed. This is Lithium's format. It's a one size fits all (with slight modifications) solution for websites with forums, who are too lazy / incompetent to run them. This was the appeal of Jive, and is the appeal of Lithium to them. They get to hand off the forums to someone else to run (at a high price, I am sure).
Column down the middle, sidebars, limited functionality, and unappealing asthetics are the hallmark of this kind of site. It's not intended to be an awesome forum, it's intended to give the bare minimum, at the lowest price, with the least effort from management.
Obviously, they have some severe buyer's remorse, when it comes to these forums.
