Feedback for new layout

I feel the Forums look a lot more crowded and not quite conducive to read or browse. There appears to be a waste of real estate on both the left and right side of the screens. Fonts are too small as well.

Fresher (MIJ)

Amps

Yes the problem is so bad that some people can't even find where to post forum feedback, and put it into the "Amps" section. Can't blame you ...

I also hate the fact that I can't go to the newest unread post in a thread =/

The whole section with the new tags and "solutions" (what is this, some tech support forum software?) is entirely useless. Cut that out and the layout becomes a lot more bearable.

If that is not done then there's not much hope for this forum.

Here's a mockup I did with a few Javascript changes.

Re: Feedback for new layout

I frequent a lot of other forums as I'm sure many here do as well.

This layout is by far the worst I've ever come across.

It boggles the mind that they would choose something like this.

LaXu-

Good job on the change. Way better. The real estate on the left and right side of the pages still remain.

Re: Feedback for new layout

There have been posted a few layout hacks/codes already. My screen currently looks like this:

Re: Feedback for new layout

Thanks. I did widen the content area to around 1140 pixels, which fits nicely if the resolution is 1280 pixels wide. I don't really believe in full width as it just makes each sentence really long and thus harder to read. There's no sense in fullscreening web browsers on modern 1080p+ monitors.

I do like your layout. Could you send me the javascript?

From what I understand, they were rushed to launch this forum, as the old vBulletin one was falling apart (We have all been able to witness this).

Most complaints are about the layout, which can be changed fairly easily, as shown by various people here who have made their own script. With it, the layout is not worse than on any other forum. A lot of the functionality has already been restored, added, deleted or fixed.

Honestly I haven't got any ideea why they chose this particular platform, when other better ones are available. Butdid anyone honestly expect a fully working perfect forum upon launch? I have yet to find software that doesn't have regular bugfixes and other updates.

I guess it's easier to whine that come up with constructive ideas

My view is similar to yours and with the Chrome plug removes the bs. Like I said though, I like the fact it is user customizable. I prefer a much darker view and do not like the white. Backgrounds are gone with the plugin too. Helps on other sites as well.

In the feedback area, tons of posts requests to keep things user acct controlled. Guest views will be somewhat filtered from what I heard.

Some things I learned on my own just by clicking. Things like message list takes you back to forum main page. Stuff like that. Some of the other stuff I just ignore. Same as what I did with VB options. Mile long Sigs bothered me so I disabled them in preferences. Made viewing posts a lot easier with less scrolling.
