One of my patient's mother gave me a poem on a cheap little plague and it hangs in my office across from my desk. It sounds a little weird, but I like it and it makes me feel better sometimes when I'm kind of down. I think I've remembered it pretty close, as I'm not at work right now. It goes something like this:
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,

That was very nice, Ed. I really enjoyed that. I still like the Simon and Garfunkel version better, but only because they had the original version and that song and the summer of 1970 has special meaning to me personally. Call me sentimental...I'll tell ya about it sometime. I still have the vinyl LP of BOTW and listen to it all the time......but mostly for that one track. Thanks for posting it.

Poppy one of the first things to do, is to get your possitive attitude back. That makes so much difference.
I live in Ohio, I dont know what part of Ky you live in, but a little road trip might make you feel better. Come on down!!!! or up anyway.

Glad you liked it John. I thought both the Takamine and especially the Ovation sounded awesome. I found that video looking for the SNL spoof of that song but YouTube had to remove most of their stuff. If I find it I'll post it.
I thought the guitars sounded great too. But, ya know what?......When I'm watching someone sing and play the guitar, I think I'm just like most people who don't do either one......I hardly ever notice the brand of guitar they're playing. I don't know how many times I watched someone on TV play and sing and, when they're done and off the stage, I couldn't tell you what kind of guitar they played if my life depended on it. It's just something I never really pay any attention to.
Back in the early '80s, I played music in a bar with another man for a period of about six months straight. Every Saturday afternoon we'd get together and do our thing just for the fun of it. (and the free beer, of course) I think we must've played together for at least three times before I even noticed what brand of guitar the guy had. It was an old Gibson B-25 that he'd had for about 20 years.

Hey John I found some chords I think are pretty close to their version.
Transpose it to -2 (option on the left) and capo 1.
Let me know what you think ...

Ok Ed. I've been looking at it. It's real close, but I don't think it's perfect.
Try this. As it is, it's in the key of D. Transpose it into G (-7 or +5) and then look at the first chord in the third line of the song. It's a D chord. Change just that one chord to a Bm and give it a try. There's a couple of other locations with that same chord progression that also need the same change.
"G" is the only key I could find to transpose it into where that one particular chord wasn't a real bitch to play, while also keeping the rest of the chords playable. By using a capo, you could find another key that might suit your voice better than G.
I can see a couple of other changes I'd make if I was going to try to play and sing it (which I don't think I could), but that one I'd definitely change.
Try it and let me know what you think.

Sounds good, I like seven note chords so both work for me but I think part of what we're fighting is (I'm pretty sure) they are tuned down a half step, in that scenario the original chords sound good as is without a capo, not perfect either but that's ok too ...
