Sound Quality
Dark, and surprisingly deep and full-bodied sound without amplification.
Mine were built in July 1994 and Feb 1995, and look TOTALLY different from each other.  Different wood, the '94 has a thicker neck and only ONE mark on fingerboard, on the side of 7th fret.  The '95 is the best guitar I have ever owned and at times sounds magical, but the '94 always stays in tune, and from what I understand, that means an extremely well-built guitar.
paid $300 at pawn shop and $250 off of Ebay with $75 shipping.  Would not hesitate to pay $500 or more.  These guitars are very few in number, and not often come up for re-sale.  The Korean makers were BETTER than the Japanese, and you could not find an equivalent without spending 3x more.
General Comments
These guitars have a totally different sound than steel string electrics.  Subdued is a good word to describe the sound.  They sound way better electrified than steel stringed guitars do.  And so much easier to play, and your fingers able to play much longer.
