Steve Bailey uses a fretless version of this bass. Man does it sound like shit. For this, I can back this up - yes they do sound like shit I sold mine LOL The pickups are quiet, but very midrangey. THey are hum canceling stacked design. THe DR-5 pickups, for whatever reason - they sound better. THe DR-5 is just a better bass, but not as pretty :P The sound of this bass has no punch or substance. It is kind of generic, and for fretless - man do they suck. A Music man - now there is the tone. Music Man Stingray or Tobias 5 (Pre Gibson) - their sound is pretty awesome and growly :) The DR-6C, man it SUX! No life to the sound - just waaah waah waah LOL

The gold hardware wears out after a while looks worn - and had some trouble with the output jack.

OK "boutique" style bass. Looks impressive, sounds kinda' lame :P Last time I buy a bass with my eyes instead of my ears!!! :P
