Sound Quality
Any noise associated with this unit will most likely depend on the condition of the footswitch while switching channels. If the switch is scratchy, then you probably notice some noise when you step on it. The design is about as simple as it gets; Input/output jacks wired to the two switches. Even if everthing is in perfect condition, you'll probably notice something when switching since there was no attempt made to supress noise, etc...
Reliability/Durability
Besides maybe a switch going out or some corrosion on the jacks, there really isn't much that can possibly go wrong with this thing. I think you can rely on it to work without too much fuss.

General Comments
If you need a channel selector the Switch Blade does the job, but I wouldn't pay a whole lot for one if I were you. Besides being somewhat of a collector's item, there's really not all that much to it. As a matter of fact you could easily make one yourself (probably from parts you have laying around your house)... of course it wouldn't look as cool! I bought mine mainly for the case, then modified it to be an "Effects Loop" switcher (to select a series of effects at one time). It now features a hard bypass, an LED indicator light and a couple resistors to supress that "popping" sound when switching. I sometimes see these things going for $40 or more on eBay - definitely not worth that much - but for a cool project box, I'm glad I shelled out the $26 I paid for mine...
