I am running a strat through the Tych to an old twin reverb. The intensity knob is the only one to worry about. When its turned all the way down, its a very clean octive sound. When its turned all the way up the octive effect gets sort of lost in MASSIVE distortion and a huge compression. Very over the top. Stick the knob anywhere from 12 to 3 o'clock and you have Hendrix. Thats where the pedal shines, sounds exactly like some of his live recordings. I never liked the ring mod sound till I played this, it has sort of a ring mod with a real dirty little fuzz over it. Just listen to some late Jimi and you will hear exaclty what this unit does. Very nice. I give a 9 just because there are way too many 10's for effects on this board, I have to curl up in fetal position when listening to give out that number...but very close.
Reliability/Durability:
One of only 30 made and he only has 2 effects out; meaning I can get in touch with him *if* there is a problem, but I don't see that in the future.
Ease of Use:
There are two knobs: vol and intensity. I find that vol does not interact with the effect at all so really its a one knob operation, very simple
Customer Support:
See above... like many of the custom effects out now at days, you can talk to Justin and stay up to date with what he is doing. I am now part of the Philpott family.
Overall Rating:
Overall you can see I am very happy. One aspect that I think about is the resale value. If for some reason I want to sell this, I think I will get pretty close to what I paid for it, and at $135 its a pretty good deal. What gets me about many of the custom effects now at days is the fact they are trying to give a high quality replacement for effects which cost too much to buy vintage. However many of them are starting to creep into the $400 range. This is a good deal for a solid pedal that plays great. The only option I would like to see is a power adapter.
