I purchased the 3000 in Feb 07 and now in Oct 07 in the middle of a concert I have a catostrophic crash. It never recovered and is out of a lousy 90 day warrenty repair period for labor. It doesn't speak well of Yamaha's confidence in their equipment with such a horrible warrenty period .
I am now stuck with a big repair bill and very little confidence in the product.
And no, I really can't depend on this keyboard.

After warrenty, forget about anything except your wallet!!

This is a great keyboard that works well as a live performer. I would look for the kind of instrument features but would try for a longer warrenty period, even if you have to buy one.
I paid $1500 and was at the top end of my budget. It has good key action and ease of operation (as opposed to the MOTIF)
