I have been playing a LONG time and have many guitars and amps of all types... I found the pedal to be very compatible with all guitars and amps... Mostly I used a Vibratone Guitar with a lowgain Lawrence humbucker and a Solid State Peavey Revolution Stereo amp with this pedal. This pedal is something a little different in the way of distortion pedals. 1st, IT'S QUIET!!! It doesn't compress the signal much if at all, thus it doesn't produce a "saturated" overdrive type sound. Turn up it's gain setting and you get more Fuzzy/Buzzy sound than Sustain. But even at it's highest settings the overtones produced remain CLEAR and DISTINCT without becoming muddy (thus it works FABULOUSLY with delay and chorus). It's got TONS of Signal Boost available, and a WIDE BAND EQ, so a LOT of variety is possible. It produces some interesting and usefull lead tones, but REALLY shines at enhancing your rythym playing !!! Punky-Speed Metal types will LOVE this thing, But so will retro 60s players... ANYBODY who is into creative sound and/or tone enhancement should try one.
Reliability/Durability:
I've never had a DOD pedal fail.
Ease of Use:
3 knobs - Vol (lots of BOOST), Tone (wideband EQ.), and Gain (NOT sustain). Pretty simple, but not intended to mimic your favorite players or recordings. The pedal is very usefull at ALL rahges of settings for creating interesting and unique sounds. But keep in mind, this is NOT the pedal you want to buy to sound like Stevie Ray, or Stevie Vai, or Little Stevie Van Zandt.
Customer Support:
DOD builds their pedals with decent components and has a good rep. I have no personal experience with them.
Overall Rating:
I think anyone into creative sounds might find this pedal usefull-indespencable. It does things that nothing else -I- know of can do. A word about "TONESUCKING" ... If you want PURE tones, don't use FX pedals. If you're plugging into pedals, DON'T COMPLAIN about them doing what they were MADE to do.
