Think of this a flanger 'light.' If you are looking for deep, wide jet flanges and heavy metal effects then go with the BF-2. This flanger does very subtle stuff-chorus, doubling, phasing, slight swirls. It is very smooth especially with a clean guitar setting. The noise is no worse than any other flanger, in fact, the higher flanging frequency actually hides some of the moise when you are not playing. Nowhere near the sound of an MXR, EH, or ADA pedal.
Again, a light flanger-and if that is what you want this pedal is great.
Reliability/Durability:
It's a Boss pedal so expect it to last forever.
Ease of Use:
Once you spend a few hours with this pedal you can figure out what it will and won't do for you. There are loads of settings you can dial in, and small changes of any of the four knobs can change the whole sound.

Overall Rating:
If you accept it for what it is-a lighter version flanger- you will enjoy this pedal. If you play heavy rock/metal and need the thicker, deeper flanging this pedal isn't for you. Alot different than the BF-s, MXR, EH, or ADA flangers.
