I am using this with a Charvel Predator into the clean channel of my Marshall JCM2000 TSL100 Head. It isn't very noisy, i won't go as far as saying there's NO noise, but it is minimal. At first i wasn't greatly impressed with the tone i was hearing, but after a good tweaking session between the pedal and my clean settings, I was pleased with the sound i was getting. The secret to getting good tone from this pedal is to tweak with your amp settings as well as the pedals till you find your answer. The presence knob is probably the most important of all the three in reaching your desired tone, on 0 the sound is overly bassy and stupidly thick sounding, on 10 the sound is insanely screeching treble that makes my ears near bleed. All settings in between are basically a desired mixture of the two. You have to tweak with it till you get the sound you want, but this is all very easy. This thing is really more versatile than its name suggests. I can get the sound of all the classic 80s metal bands, but also a lot of experimental sounds, and grunge tones are there if needed. There really is a lot to this pedal, anyone who wants a good time creating crazy and extreme tones as well as more traditional sounds should try this pedal out. If you need an explanation of the level and distortion controls, then just use common sense and look at the words! But yeah, this thing can do Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, I think you get the idea!
Reliability/Durability:
Hmmmmmmmm, this thing looks quite dodgy! Don't stamp on it like you do your Boss pedals. The pedal itself looks quite sturdy, but the switch is plastic, so be careful! I don't suggest paying anymore than about £20-30 for this, as if you pay more than that and it dies on you, you'll be very angry! I don't think I'd gig with this at all, let alone without a backup, unless they were still in production and readily available. If you want a pedal to gig with, get the Death Metal pedal.
Ease of Use:
This thing is very easy to operate, you can't do much wrong with 3 knobs! The level control is how loud you want the effect, the presence control is just kind of a tone control, and the distortion, well, you get the idea, the pedal ain't designed for einstein.
Customer Support:
Don't know, never dealt with them, although I have doubts as this pedal is no longer in production.
Overall Rating:
If you haven't guessed yet, my main love in music is metal, and this pedal does its job well. I am confident though that people into other styles will like this pedal as well, but I wouldn't recommend paying a lot for this pedal, as it seems very delicate. I'd buy it again cheap, but not for anymore than I paid for this one, and I wouldn't use this for a gig if you like beating the hell out of your gear.
